Dear Mr. Nadziejko and class,
This letter is me asking for your permission to research a waterfowl hunting club. The club is called Fort Charters Waterfowl Club and is located in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. I deer hunt just down the road from this club, and for years I have heard almost constant shooting coming from the club in the morning hours. I have always wondered what it was like to duck hunt and what the club did. This past year the owner of the club hired me to help him cut brush on one of his properties. I never actually got to work on the wetlands property until recently. I plan on getting maps of what the area looked like before it was drained for farmland. The whole entire lowlands used to be swamp and I would like to see what the club has done to return the area to its natural state. Based on what I've seen, I am confident that the members of this club will be coincidered a subculture. Due to my employment there, I have almost endless acess to the property and many members tointerview and learn from about the clubs doings. I was actually invited on my first duck hunt ever bysome of the club members earlier this week so I am still learning. Frankly, I have no idea what they are talking about sometimes so this will be an opportunity for you to learn as I learn. Once again, my employment with the owner of the club, Mr. Frederick, will ensure that I get as much time in and around the club as possible. I also plan on watching the outdoor channel, reading one of the many waterfowl magizines, and using certain websites as other sources. I hope you give me permission to do this topic because I love the outdoors and would greatly enjoy to research this subject.
Thankyou,
Brock Durbin

Brock,
I think this will be an interesting topic to hear about. I love being outdoors, but have never been around a hunting club so I do not know much. I think one thing that you will have to remember while doing this topic is that it will be important to explain everything out in detail, because something that you would think people would know about hunting they probably have not clue. So just be careful to not expect people to now everything about hunting like you do since you seem to hunt a lot.
Danielle
i think this will be great since you have experience some experience with that club already. Does this club meet all year round or only during the duck season? just a thought
Brock,
I believe that this is a great topic and i am looking forward to hearing more about the Fort Charters waterfowl Club. Since i know absolutly nothing about any kind of hunting i agree with what Danielle says please do remember to explain exerything in great detail so the readers who know nothing can become better informed.

Where are you going to get information from other than the owner of the club?
I see that you are going to talk write about this club, but what are some of the things you are going to be looking for in particular?
This sounds like a interesting topic. I have never been hunting a day in my life. I think that in your story you could also compare this club to some clubs that may be similar. You could also get info from hunting magazines, or the public library, as well as the employees that you work with.
Brock,
This sounds like a great topic to research on. However I know nothing about hunting. Just make sure you explain everything in detail for people like me that don't know the first thing about hunting.
Denise
Brock, I think you found a great subculture there are plenty of people around that duck hunt that you could talk to. You might be able to learn some of their slang by watching the outdoor channel if you have access to it.
Dear Brock,
I think your on the right track so far. You did a good job in describing what your going to talk about. How does duck taste by the way? Where does your club meet? is it Always the same place?
This is a great topic and i feel that most of your info will be comming from people of this club, which is a good thing because if there in a club they should know alot. I think it would be interesting to hear why they like hunting or what made them want to shoot, or how long they've been hunting, stuff like that.
Brock, I am familiar with the area you are talking about. I know a lot of hunters there and you should get a lot of questions answered. I am not familiar with duck hunting though. What is the season for it? Are ducks hunted any certain time of day, like early morning or any time? Is there a certain type of gun you use? What is a website I could go to and learn something about this myself? I'm sure, since you're interested, you will do a good paper.
Waterfowl hunting is one of the most challenging forms of the sport. I think you should talk about what seperates a duck hunter from a hunter of other sorts of hunters. I.E. the freezing rain and water that duck hunters deal with before dawn as well as the complexities of the duck blind. My dad is a duck hunter and he definitly talks about it as if being a duck hunter is better than other hunters.
